Purpose-built for SMT

Keep the cleaning step controlled, enclosed and practical.

The S-1688 is an all-pneumatic stencil cleaning platform for electronics manufacturing teams that need to clean solder paste stencils, screens and related red-glue process tooling between production runs. Its cleaning and drying stages are designed as one enclosed, timed workflow.

Discuss your stencil construction, soil type and cleaning chemistry with Southern Machinery before final configuration and operating setup.

Why automatic stencil cleaning

Replace variable hand cleaning with a defined process.

Manual methods can be useful for small tasks, but they rely on operator technique and can make timing, coverage and solvent handling harder to standardize.

Manual cleaning can introduce variation

  • Inconsistent coverage across fine areas of a stencil
  • Uncertain wash and dry timing from one shift to another
  • More direct handling around cleaning liquid and residue

A timed enclosed cycle supports consistency

  • Double-sided rotary spray coverage inside the chamber
  • Separate cleaning and air-blow drying stages
  • Filtration before liquid recirculates through the process

Machine capabilities

Focused functions for stencil cleaning operations.

Features below describe the available machine architecture. Final process settings, cleaning liquid and operating procedures should be confirmed for the application.

01

All-pneumatic cycle

Cleaning and drying actions are driven by compressed air, with mechanical/pneumatic time control.

02

360° rotary spray

Double-sided rotary nozzles direct cleaning liquid across both sides of the loaded stencil.

03

Integrated air drying

Compressed-air blow drying follows the wash stage in the enclosed chamber.

04

Liquid circulation

Filtered cleaning liquid is circulated in a closed-loop process rather than used as a one-pass flow.

05

Multi-stage filtration

Mesh, filter bag and fine filter element stages address different residue sizes in the liquid path.

06

SUS304 wet-side parts

Documented stainless-steel construction is used for key liquid-contact machine components.

07

Adjustable wash pressure

Operators can set cleaning pressure according to the approved process requirement.

08

Door interlock architecture

A pneumatic safety interlock component supports controlled access to the cleaning chamber.

How it works

One loading sequence. Two timed treatment stages.

The normal workflow moves from loading through wash, dry and removal. Verify timing and cleaning-liquid selection with the final operating procedure.

Load stencil

Place a compatible stencil in the chamber fixture.

Close door

Close the chamber before starting the timed sequence.

Wash

Rotary nozzles spray cleaning liquid on both sides.

Air dry

Compressed air blows the stencil dry after cleaning.

Remove stencil

Open after the cycle and complete the approved inspection.

Working principle

Compressed air powers the liquid and air paths.

Compressed air drives the pneumatic diaphragm pump and supports the wash and drying cycle. Cleaning liquid travels through the filtration path and rotary spray system, then returns for recirculation. Air drying is completed with a separate compressed-air blow stage.

This diagram is a functional overview, not a piping and instrumentation drawing.

Dedicated filtration system

Three filtration roles in the recirculation path.

Filtration is specified as part of the machine process. Service intervals depend on actual residue loading, cleaning liquid and use frequency.

Stage 1

1 mm mesh filter

Specified to protect the pump from larger debris in the liquid path.

Filter bag spare part for S-1688 stencil cleaner
Stage 2

20 μm filter bag

Cleaning and drying

Clear separation between wash and dry functions.

The current S-1688 specification lists a 2–5 minute clean time and 2–5 minute dry time for solder paste stencils.

Cleaning stage

  • 360° double-sided rotary nozzle liquid spray
  • Enclosed chamber treatment
  • Cleaning pressure set for the approved process
  • Specified clean time: 2–5 min for solder paste stencil

Drying stage

  • 360° double-sided rotary nozzle compressed-air blow dry
  • Separate timed drying step after washing
  • Use the recommended exhaust connection for the installation
  • Specified dry time: 2–5 min for solder paste stencil

Mechanical/pneumatic time control supports Clean → Dry → Stop operation.

Simple operating process

Set the approved process, then let the timed sequence run.

01

Check the system

Confirm the installation, compressed-air supply and cleaning-liquid condition before use.

02

Load the stencil

Place the compatible stencil in the chamber and secure it as instructed.

03

Set wash and dry times

Use timings approved for the stencil, residue and cleaning-liquid process.

04

Close and start

Close the door and start the machine according to the operating manual.

05

Inspect and maintain

Remove only after the cycle, inspect the stencil and service filters when required.
